| City of Solana Beach WEEKLY UPDATE July 3, 2025 | | Happy Birthday to the City of Solana Beach! | | On July 1st, Solana Beach celebrated 39 years since becoming an official city! We’ve come a long way since 1986, and it’s all thanks to the amazing Solana Beach community that has helped shape and grow our city. From our residents and local businesses to our dedicated City Council and staff, the people of Solana Beach have always been at the heart of it all. We’re proud to lead in environmental sustainability, support a thriving arts scene, and stay true to our local roots. With a strong focus on public safety and a sound, responsible budget, we’re continuing to invest in what matters most. These shared values are what make Solana Beach such a special place to live, work, and play. | | New Solar Powered Electric Vehicle Charger! | | | The City continues to advance its Climate Action Plan goals by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and expanding access to clean transportation. As a part of this effort, the City has installed a BEAM Arc Solar/Battery Electric Vehicle Charging Station at the La Colonia Community Park.
This new EV charging station does take a little longer to charge a vehicle, but it is free and the energy that is used is from the sun! The charging station is available to the community, has a built-in battery for storage so it can be used even at night and on cloudy days, and can even act as a back-up emergency energy source for the Community Center if needed! If you have an electric vehicle, we encourage you to utilize this new resource at La Colonia Park! | | Have a Safe Fourth of July Weekend!
The City would like to wish everyone a very happy Fourth of July holiday! Let's make this holiday memorable for all the right reasons by prioritizing safety, respecting regulations, and being mindful of our surroundings and our neighbors. The following are a few key reminders to help us enjoy the holiday celebrations, fireworks and beaches safely and responsibly | | | Solana Circle Street Closure | As an important reminder, Solana Circle will once again be closed to all vehicles (including residents) from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday, July 4th due to the fireworks show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The road closures will be at the intersection of Solana Circle and Via de la Valle on the south, and Solana Circle and Nardo Avenue on the north. No vehicles (besides public safety vehicles) will be allowed to enter or exit during the closure. | | | The City would like to remind everyone that all fireworks, including sparklers and poppers, are banned from use in Solana Beach, Encinitas, and Del Mar. Fireworks are unpredictable and dangerous, accounting for 44% of burn injuries in July. They also pose a serious fire hazard, with the potential to ignite structures and spark brushfires that threaten homes and natural areas. To enjoy fireworks safely, we encourage you to grab a good spot for the San Diego County Fair show or one of many professional firework shows around San Diego County. These events are conducted under strict safety protocols, offering a festive experience without the risk. | | | This weekend is the biggest beach holiday of the summer! The Solana Beach Lifeguards would like to share some beach safety tips to ensure a fun and safe holiday weekend. Be mindful of the steeper beach slope leading to a quick drop-off and potential shore break, so please watch your small children even near the shore. Always swim near a lifeguard, preferably in designated swim areas. Stay away from bluffs, overhangs, and caves. Always follow beach and park rules: no fireworks, alcohol, glass, smoking, drones, or beach camping. Have a safe and memorable Fourth of July in Solana Beach! | | | Fireworks may be festive for us, but they can be terrifying for pets, and each year, many frightened animals end up lost or in shelters. Help protect your furry friends by ensuring they're microchipped and wearing ID tags with updated information, as well as securely leashed. Consider creating a calm, quiet space at home or speaking with your vet about stress-reducing options. Don't wait until it's too late! Take steps now to keep your pet safe and sound this holiday. | | Upcoming Holiday Observances | | City Hall Holiday Closure
