The City of Solana Beach’s top priority is the health and safety of our community. We are coordinating closely with public health experts at the County of San Diego and monitoring the guidance and direction coming from State officials. The county’s public health officer announced five additional cases in San Diego County of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, bringing the total to six. According to the County of San Diego’s Health and Human Services Agency, effective immediately all gatherings of more than 250 people are directed to be postponed or cancelled across the county. This includes concerts, conferences, and professional, college, and school sporting events.

In addition to prohibiting events with 250 or more participants, the county “strongly encourages” the cancellation of smaller gatherings when a distance of 6 feet or more cannot be maintained between people and other public health precautions cannot be met.

The order started at midnight March 12th and is in effect through March 31st.

Residents who are 65 and older and those individuals, regardless of age, who have underlying chronic illnesses, are strongly encouraged to cancel all non-essential travel, avoid large groups, and to stay in their homes as much as possible.

If there are any questions, residents are encouraged to talk to your healthcare provider. For community resources, please call 2-1-1 or visit www.coronavirus-sd.com.
