"Beneath the Palms" by Stephanie Missan

October 27 - December 15

The community is invited to attend a special opening reception on Saturday, November 14, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at City Hall Gallery, located at 635 S. Hwy. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist, explore the exhibit, and enjoy light refreshments. This reception is a great chance to connect with fellow art lovers and celebrate this exhibit.

About the Exhibit

Beneath the Palms features oil and gouache paintings that capture the botanical light and shape of palm trees in an impressionist inspired style. The paintings showcase impasto brushstrokes and use soft, pastel colors to illustrate the warm luminosity of Southern California. Each painting celebrates the organic form and abstract shapes found in nature and in the landscape. Color and shadows serve as inspiration and showcase how the environment around us is ever-changing.

About the Artist

Stephanie Missan is a painter born and raised in San Diego, California. She currently works out of her home studio in Carlsbad, California. She attended school at Laguna College of Art + Design and the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work has been shown in galleries in San Diego and featured on artist blogs and websites. She is inspired by the Southern California landscape she grew up in. She seeks to explore the relationship with color, texture, and brushwork while balancing representation and abstraction.
