Introducing Our New Planning Director:

Noah Alvey

The City is proud to announce the appointment of Noah Alvey as Planning Director, bringing more than 25 years of municipal planning and community development experience to his new role. Over the years, Noah has dedicated his career to thoughtful land use planning, strategic policy development, and collaborative public service across the San Diego County region.

Noah’s most recent role was with the City of El Cajon as the Deputy Director of the Development Service Department. In his role he oversaw key functions within the Community Development and Development Services Departments, managing planning, building, code compliance, and housing programs. Prior to that, he served as Community Development Manager for the City of Lemon Grove, directing planning, building, code enforcement, and stormwater activities while supporting policy initiatives such as the Climate Action Plan and ADA Transition Plan.

Earlier in his career, Noah held several leadership positions with the County of San Diego, including County Zoning Administrator and Land Use/Environmental Planning Manager, where he guided multi disciplinary projects, presented before governing boards, and led complex environmental and development initiatives.

Noah earned his Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Planning from the University of California San Diego and received his AICP certification in 2011, demonstrating his longstanding commitment to professional excellence in the field of urban planning.

The City looks forward to the leadership, experience, and community focused approach Noah brings to his new role.

Construction to Begin on

Lomas Santa Fe East Corridor Improvements Project

The City’s long-anticipated Lomas Santa Fe East Corridor Project will be kicking off after Labor Day, with some staging of machines, supplies and some pruning of vegetation in preparation for significant construction to start in October. This project is funded largely by $7 million in funding received from Congressman Mike Levin to improve the corridor of Lomas Santa Fe from the 1-5 Freeway, east to Highland Drive, along with Measure S funds. City staff will be providing an update on the project at the City Council meeting at City Hall on September 9th. This will be the public meeting to kick-off and provide details for this important and exciting project. If you want more information we encourage you to not only watch or attend the upcoming council meeting, but also to go to our webpage to sign up to be added to the email list for this project.
