City of Solana Beach WEEKLY UPDATE August 17, 2026 |
All Solana Beach schools are back in session as of last week. Drivers are urged to slow down, use extra caution near school zones, crosswalks and bus stops, and allow for extra time for commute during morning and afternoon drop-off and pick-up hours. Parents should ensure that their kids are dropped off safely and remind them to follow roadway safety rules when walking, biking, or riding scooters and skateboards to school. Let’s start the school year on the right foot and keep our students safe every step of the way. |

Highlights from Beach Blanket Movie Night |
What a way to close out the summer! Thank you to everyone that came out to Beach Blanket Movie Night last Saturday, danced to the music, relaxed on the beach, and supported our Parks & Rec Department with refreshment and t-shirt purchases. Special thanks to all our City staff for working all night long to keep the show running, and the San Diego Bike Coalition for keeping our bikes safe. We hope you enjoyed listening to live music from Billy Watson and the International Silver String Submarine Band and watching North Shore under the stars. We can't wait to see you all next year for more music and summer fun! |

Highlights from National Night Out |
National Night Out was a success! Last Wednesday, August 5, kids and parents came to La Colonia Park, learned about the public safety partners that serve Solana Beach, and enjoyed a DJ and good food from local families. Sheriffs answered questions and had a special K9 demonstration on sniffing for bombs and weapons. AMR brought their ambulance and taught CPR, and detectives showcased how to mark a crime scene. This event is just one of the North Coastal Sheriff's Station's efforts to create a better relationship between the community and local law enforcement. Registration is open for their next community outreach program, Rise Above Academy, which begins next month. See below for details. |
