The Solana Beach Public Arts Commission is pleased to offer two distinct public art opportunities. We invite artists to apply to these wonderful programs and contribute to the vibrant public art scene in Solana Beach.

Temporary Public Arts Program 2027-2028

Help shape the artistic landscape of Solana Beach. The City is now accepting submissions for the 2027-2028 Temporary Public Arts Exhibit Cycle. This rotating two-year outdoor exhibition selects five sculptures to be displayed at prominent locations throughout the City.

The Temporary Public Arts Program celebrates creativity while enhancing public spaces by introducing a new and diverse collection of artwork every two years. This rotating exhibit continually transforms the City's landscape, enriches the experience for residents and visitors, and provides artists with a highly visible opportunity to showcase their work.

Artists are invited to submit existing, completed sculptures available for loan, as the program does not accept proposals for artwork that has not yet been created. Don't miss this opportunity to share your work with thousands of residents and visitors in our vibrant coastal community.

Artist Stipend: $3,000 stipend for a two-year loan

Submission Deadline: Friday, September 11th by 5:00 PM

City Hall Gallery Program 2027-28 Exhibitions

Display your artwork at Solana Beach City Hall. The Solana Beach Arts Commission is now accepting proposals for the 2027-2028 City Hall Gallery Program, inviting artists to submit applications for solo, group, or educational exhibitions.

The Solana Beach City Hall Gallery is a unique space dedicated to supporting local and regional artists by providing a complimentary, high-visibility venue to exhibit their work. The program features six rotating exhibitions each year, transforming City Hall into a public gallery that showcases a diverse range of artistic styles and mediums. Past exhibitions have featured watercolor paintings, photography, recycled metal sculptures, children's art, painted surfboards, wooden sculptures, and mosaic artwork.

There is no submission fee, and the City does not take a commission on artwork sales, allowing artists to keep 100% of their proceeds. Because of the Gallery's expansive wall space, applicants should have a substantial body of work to fill the exhibition area and are strongly encouraged to tour the Gallery before applying to become familiar with the space.

Deadline: Friday, September 11th by 5:00 PM

Public art is a vital part of Solana Beach's cultural identity, and supporting local artists is essential to maintaining our unique and dynamic atmosphere. Pease help spread the word about these fantastic opportunities.
