Celebrating Red Ribbon Week With Local Students

Students from Solana Vista, Skyline, Earl Warren, St. James, San Dieguito Academy, and The Changers proudly attended the City Council meeting last Wednesday to accept the City’s proclamation honoring Red Ribbon Week, which will run next week from October 27th through October 31st. Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention campaign, promoting the importance of a drug-free life for K-12 students. We encourage the community to support these efforts in building a healthy, drug-free community for future generations.

Community Advisory: Scheduled Road Maintenance

The City's pavement rehabilitation project is underway, the next phase of which will involve asphalt pavement resurfacing to improve roadways in various neighborhoods. This phase will run from Monday, October 27th, to Friday, October 31st, and will involve temporary road closures lasting several hours. Residents impacted by this operation have received door hangers with specific instructions on access, parking, and traffic control. Please use caution while traveling through the construction zones and keep an eye out for any construction traffic and detour signs put in place. For those of you with children who walk or bike to school, please share this information with your children to make sure they are extra alert to changes in the roadway and construction activities during these times. You can learn more below and see a map of the street repair locations in your neighborhood.

Coastal Rail Service Suspended This Weekend

To perform routine railroad maintenance and major infrastructure improvements along the coastal rail corridor, the North County Transit District (NCTD) will suspend all coastal rail services between San Diego and Oceanside this weekend beginning on Saturday, October 25th and ending on Sunday, October 26th. Customers are urged to plan ahead and make alternative travel arrangements. Regularly scheduled service will resume on Monday, October 27th

Induction Cooktop Incentive Program

Upgrading to a battery-equipped induction cooktop can make your kitchen more comfortable, cooler, and safer by reducing indoor air pollutants. Induction cooking is faster and more energy efficient than gas stovetops which ultimately lowers your utility bills. Best of all, using electric appliances helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions which contributes to a healthier environment on the large scale as well. Interested? The QuitCarbon Battery-Equipped Induction Cooking Rebate helps homeowners save money when upgrading to a 120-volt battery-equipped induction stove or cooktop. Learn more and sign up below.
