| | | City of Solana Beach WEEKLY UPDATE October 17, 2025 | | City Staff Participate in Wildfire Emergency Training | | | Last week, Solana Beach City staff rolled up their sleeves for a high-energy, four-hour Emergency Operations Center (EOC) training exercise simulating a wildfire event affecting San Diego County and our local community. The hands-on exercise gave staff the opportunity to take part in a realistic, scenario-based activity to practice how we would respond if a real emergency ever reached our city’s doorstep. All City departments, from Fire and Marine Safety to Planning and Finance, took part in the training as every department has a vital role to play during emergency operations.
During the training, City employees stepped into emergency response roles and tackled wildfire scenarios that tested teamwork, quick decision-making, and clear communication under pressure. From coordinating evacuation plans and public alerts to managing interagency communication and developing an Incident Action Plan, every task mirrored what would happen during an actual wildfire
These exercises are more than just drills, they are how we make sure City staff are ready to act swiftly and effectively when our community needs them most. By simulating these situations, our team becomes more familiar with EOC operations and emergency communications, identifies what works, strengthens coordination across departments, and ensures that when emergencies strike, Solana Beach is prepared to protect lives, property, and our shared sense of safety. Preparedness is a team effort, and every exercise helps ensure our City is ready to respond when it matters most. | | City Accepts Best Restored Beach Award | | | | We are excited to announce that the City was recently honored with the very prestigious “Best Restored Beach Award 2025” for the Encinitas and Solana Beach Storm Damage Reduction Project at the annual American Shore & Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA) conference last week.
