!Railroad and Lagoon Work This Weekend!

Railroad and Lagoon Work This Weekend
This is a courtesy announcement from the City to the community about work planned this weekend in the San Elijo Lagoon. The City was informed yesterday that all Railroad Services will be suspended this weekend (Oct. 3rd & 4th). Along with this planned service suspension, also known as an Absolute Work Window (AWW), the San Elijo Lagoon Restoration & Railroad construction crews just informed the City that they will be taking advantage of the AWW to perform additional work near the San Elijo Lagoon inlet and rail bridge. Crews plan to use the NCTD maintenance road located at the north end of the City off of Highway 101, adjacent to the rail line and Harbaugh Trails, to transport equipment and materials to the work area at the San Elijo Lagoon rail bridge.

Crews plan to be present in this area to perform this work on Saturday (10/3) and Sunday (10/4) between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. The City is attempting to adjust the early start time to a later time for the weekend work. However, nearby residents adjacent to the rail line can expect general vehicle noise during these work hours, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) required vehicle backup alarms. Attached is a map that shows the area of work. Please note that the map on the door hanger that was distributed to nearby residences did not accurately reflect the access route and location of the planned work. There will be no traffic on North Rios from this work.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Engineering Department at (858) 720-2470.

We apologize for this late notice; however, the City was only made aware of this work yesterday.
