County Update - Reopen San Diego
Business Safety Framework
This week, Governor Newsom announced the intent to gradually move into Stage 2 of the Re-Opening Roadmap this Friday, May 8th. The Governor announced some business sectors, like retail and manufacturing/logistics, where there is a lower risk of coronavirus transmission will be able to adapt and re-open with modified operations. As the County waits for additional updates, we are all preparing for when the Governor takes this action.
Yesterday, the County Board of Supervisors, working in coordination with the Public Health Officer and the Chief Administrative Officer, have developed the Reopen San Diego Business Safety Framework. This Framework is a baseline series of broad actions that businesses will need to implement to safely reopen non-essential businesses when the time comes. Please note that no businesses have yet been authorized to reopen under this Framework. However, the measures established in the Framework are likely to be included in future Public Health Orders lifting business restrictions. These measures reflect input the County has received from the REsponsible COVid-19 Economic Reopening (RECOVER) Advisory Group. It is anticipated that this Framework may be further modified as the recommendations from the RECOVER Advisory Group are received.
This morning the Board of Supervisors unanimously passed the Reopen San Diego Business Safety Framework. As such, the County is encouraging all businesses to take appropriate steps now as outlined in the Framework to prepare for the reopening of San Diego businesses when the Governor makes the necessary steps to allow San Diego County to go back to work. Again, no additional business are allowed to reopen until authorized by the Governor’s Executive Order. If and when authorized, however, all businesses will be required to complete the Safe Reopening Plan (SRP), which can be found at www.coronavirus-sd.com. This plan does not need to be submitted now. However, we are encouraging businesses to use it to be ready when the state allows certain businesses to reopen. Essential businesses already operating do not need to submit a new plan.
Please continue to monitor www.coronavirus-sd.com for more information as it becomes available.
