The City of Solana Beach has issued a grading permit for the Solana 101 project located at the Northwest corner of HWY 101 and Dahlia Street. The grading permit for this project includes 64,600 cubic yards (cy) of export; 25,000 cy of which is planned to be placed at Fletcher Cove beach.

The contractor started the grading operation on Monday, February 24, 2020. Once the suitable sandy material layer is reached, the beach-quality sand will be transported to Fletcher Cove, which is expected to begin on March 16, 2020. Due to the high volume of heavy truck traffic, the Fletcher Cove parking lot will be closed Monday through Friday during the sand placement operation (parking lot will be reopened on the weekends). During the week, cars will be redirected to the Distillery parking lot across from the Post Office. Public safety will be the utmost concern, and personnel will be onsite to direct the truck traffic and protect the public. The sand placement operation at Fletcher Cove is expected to last until Memorial Day 2020.
