This is a courtesy announcement that Caltrans construction crews will start dismantling the original Interstate 5 (I-5) highway bridge over the San Elijo Lagoon and Manchester Avenue in the City of Encinitas on Sunday night, March 1, 2020. This work will last for approximately 4-6 weeks, and much of this work must be completed overnight for safety purposes (excluding Friday and Saturday nights). 

Nearby residents and businesses will most likely hear and experience noise and lights from this activity, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) required vehicle backup alarms. Overnight closures of Manchester Avenue will also be required during the first two weeks, while crews remove parts of the old bridge structure directly over the road.
