A Red Flag and High Wind warning is in effect for the San Diego Region from Wednesday, December 6th through Saturday, December 9th. Winds are expected to be from 20-30 mph with gusts to 60 mph, the strongest winds occurring Wednesday night and into Thursday. Combined with low humidity, there will be critical to extreme fire weather conditions on Thursday, December 7.
The Fire Department, Marine Safety Department and Public Works Department have increased their front line staff in preparation for response to severe weather-related incidents, such as possible wildfires, fallen trees, downed power lines, and power outages. Residents should take all necessary precautions including, but not limited to, the following: If you come across downed power lines, keep clear of the area, and report it to SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343, 24-hours a day, seven days a week; or call 911. In the event of an evacuation or power outage, be prepared: -

Have a family communication plan. -
Know your community's evacuation routes. -
Prepare a "Disaster Kit" with food, water, flashlights, batteries, clothing, toiletries, medications, and important documents. -
