Get Free At-⁠Home COVID-⁠19 Test Kits

Every home in the U.S. is now eligible to order four (4) free at-⁠home COVID-⁠19 tests. The tests are completely free. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days. Order your tests now so you have them if and when you need them.

What you need to know about your order:
  • Limit of one order per residential address
  • One order includes 4 individual rapid antigen COVID-19 tests
  • Orders will ship free starting in late January

What you need to know about the at-home COVID-19 tests:
  • Are rapid antigen at-home tests, not PCR (polymerase chain reaction)
  • Can be taken anywhere
  • Give results within 30 minutes (no lab drop-off required)
  • Work whether or not you have COVID-⁠19 symptoms
  • Work whether or not you are up-to-date with your COVID-⁠19 vaccines
  • Are also referred to self-tests or over-the-counter (OTC) tests
  • Read more frequently asked questions

When to take an at-⁠home test:
  • If you begin having COVID-⁠19 symptoms like fever, sore throat, runny nose, or loss of taste or smell, or
  • At least 5 days after you come into close contact with someone with COVID-⁠19, or
  • When you’re going to gather with a group of people, especially those who are at risk of severe disease or may not be up-to-date with their COVID-⁠19 vaccines.

What if you test Positive?
A positive at-⁠home test result means that the test has detected the virus, and it is very likely have COVID-⁠19. If your at-home test shows a positive result, follow the latest CDC guidance for isolation.

What if you test Negative?
A negative at-⁠home test result means that the test did not detect the virus, and you may have a lower risk of spreading COVID-19 to others. Check your test kit for instructions and specific next steps. If you test negative, you should test again within a few days with at least 24 hours between tests. If you test negative, follow the latest CDC guidance for self-⁠testing.

Testing is only one step you can take to protect yourself, friends, family, and others. Everyone is encouraged to:
  • Become up-to-date with your COVID-⁠19 vaccinations. Visit vaccines.gov to find a vaccine or booster location near you
  • Follow the CDC Face Covering guidelines and wear a well-fitted mask when gathering indoors
  • Maintain 6 feet of distance between people

Following the 2020 Census, the City of Solana Beach is required to reassess its electoral districts to address any shifts in population differentiation.

To get involved in the Re-Districting process:
  • View the Initial Draft Maps on the City’s website
  • Submit your own draft map utilizing the Public Participation Kit

Volunteers Serving on behalf of the City Council
Two-year terms are expiring for 16 positions in January.
Applications are being accepted through
Tuesday, January 18, 2022, 5:30 p.m.
Two vacancies - terms will expire January 2024

This Commission provides input to Council regarding the City's operating budget.

Regular Meeting Schedule: Mondays preceding the 2nd Council meeting of the month at 5:30 p.m.

Position’s Requirements:
  • At least 18 yrs. old
  • Resident of the City
  • Property owner within the City
Four vacancies - terms will expire January 2024
2 Citizen/Resident Positions | 1 Professional Position

This Commission participates in reviewing certain matters regarding reducing the City’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and implementing the Climate Action Plan.

Regular Meeting Schedule: 3rd Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Position’s Requirements:
  • Five Citizens/Residents
  • At least 18 yrs. old
  • Resident of the City
  • Two Professionals
  • At least 18 yrs. old
  • Must be from the environmental or scientific community
  • Resident or Non-resident
  • Two Current Councilmembers (or 1 Councilmember and one person from another position, as determined by Council)
Three vacancies - terms will expire January 2024

This Commission participates in reviewing certain matters regarding the City's parks, programs, and conducts certain City events.

Regular Meeting Schedule: 2nd Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m.

Position’s Requirements:
  • At least 18 yrs. old
  • Resident of the City
Three vacancies - terms will expire January 2024

This Commission participates in reviewing certain matters regarding community art opportunities and conducts certain City events.

Regular Meeting Schedule: 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Position’s Requirements:
  • At least 18 yrs. old
  • Resident of the City
Four vacancies - terms will expire January 2024

This Commission is tasked with reviewing feasible solutions for development when an assessment request is filed and makes definitive decisions on projects utilizing the City's adopted guidelines/toolkit.

Regular Meeting Schedule: 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

  • At least 18 yrs. old
  • Resident of the City
  • Property owner within the City.
