Warm a Senior's Heart with a Holiday Basket!
For the Solana Beach Cares Fall Donation Drive, the City has teamed up with Solana Beach Community Connections (SBCC) to help spread holiday cheer. The holiday season can be especially difficult for seniors who are living alone, particularly those who have lost a spouse or whose families live far away. To help brighten the season for these “solo agers,” we are collecting thoughtful items to create Senior Holiday Gift Baskets. You can help by dropping off cheerful items like calendars, puzzle books, cozy socks, holiday treats, warm beverages, or other small comfort gifts in our donation bins at City Hall. The final day to donate is Thursday, December 10.

Solana Beach Fire Department Partners with
San Diego County Parks Department on
Vegetation Management Efforts

The Solana Beach Fire Department recently assessed vegetation along the San Elijo Lagoon to identify ways to reduce wildfire hazards. The Fire Department has partnered with the San Diego County Parks Department to develop a coordinated vegetation management program to enhance wildfire resilience along the lagoon’s open space and adjacent neighborhoods. This collaborative effort reflects the City’s continued commitment to proactive wildfire prevention and protecting our natural open spaces. To read more about how vegetation management helps protect against wildfires, and how you can reduce wildfire risk at home, visit the City's website.

New Pollinator Signs Around the City!
Just last week, the pollinator garden in front of La Colonia Community Center got an upgrade! The garden is a certified Monarch Waystation, and now features an educational sign for visitors to learn all about the western monarch's lifecycle. Additional individual plant and pollinator signs have been added to La Colonia and in front of City Hall for viewers to scan and learn more about the many plants and pollinators you may find! To further support native and pollinator plants and gardens in the City, our Climate and Resiliency Commission's Pollinator Friendly City Subcommittee is asking for your input.
If you are a homeowner, renter or property manager in Solana Beach, fill out the survey!

Put only pumpkins in the green bin, and any other decorations in the trash or recycling. Stay tuned to the City's Instagram and other social media to learn all about organics recycling with Corey. In the meantime, learn more about what goes in which curbside bin, turning your pumpkin scraps into compost, and how to reduce greenhouse emissions on the City's website!

The paintings showcase impasto brushstrokes and use soft, pastel colors to illustrate the warm luminosity of Southern California. Each painting celebrates the organic form and abstract shapes found in nature and in the landscape.
