Emergency Preparedness Month

Week 2: Pack a Go-Bag

Could you leave your home safely with only a few minutes’ notice? An emergency go-bag can help ensure that you have essential supplies ready when you need them most. A bag can include water, nonperishable food, flashlights, batteries, phone chargers, basic first-aid supplies, clothing, hygiene items, and sturdy shoes. Keep it somewhere easy to reach and check the contents regularly.

When preparing, remember the Four P's:

1.People: Account for everyone in your household and their individual needs.

2.Pets: Pack food, water, medications, carriers, leashes, and identification.

3.Papers: Protect identification, insurance information, and other important documents.

4.Prescriptions: Keep necessary medications and medical supplies ready.

Prepare a smaller kit for your vehicle and one for work, if possible. A little preparation today can make an evacuation safer and less stressful. For more information on how to build a kit, visit our website.
