Hiring Driver for Transportation Pilot Program |

Last month, City Council approved an Older Adult Transportation Pilot Program, which is expected to launch in June! This program will provide residents of Solana Beach age 65 or older free transportation to doctors appointments, the pharmacy, grocery stores, community events, the library, and more within our City. Our transportation provider for this program, Jewish Family Services of San Diego (JFS), is now recruiting a driver for the program. JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the On-the-Go transportation team as a part-time driver. |

Reminder of Beach Fire Guidelines |
Keep our beaches safe and clean! City staff have seen a significant increase in beach fires of wood, nail-ridden pallets, and large refuse which are burned directly in the sand, and leave behind charcoal remnants, trash, and nails. Such fires are first and foremost prohibited by our City of Solana Beach Municipal Code, but they are also a safety hazard and dirty our beaches. The city has previously issued warnings to beachgoers for illegal beach fires, but starting this month violators will be cited by Sheriff's officers moving forward. What is permitted are fires in fire pits, which are elevated devices with a solid metal bottom and sides. Please remember to safely remove the fire pits from the beach when you are done and dispose of hot coals at home responsibly. Review the City's guidelines and how to report illegal beach fires on the city website. |
