Del Mar & Solana Beach Reaffirm Commitment to Emergency Services Amid Transition

On June 11th, the Encinitas City Council voted unanimously to exit the Cooperative Management Agreement (COOP), under which Encinitas has provided fire administration services to Del Mar and Solana Beach since 2009. The decision was driven by Encinitas’ growing and evolving community needs, making it no longer feasible to continue managing fire services for its partner cities.

In response, Del Mar and Solana Beach will begin exploring alternative options for fire management while working closely with the Encinitas City Manager and Fire Chief to ensure a smooth and coordinated transition. The cities of Del Mar and Solana Beach are committed to maintaining exceptional fire and emergency response services for their residents, while prioritizing and supporting their fire professionals as each City determines the best fire management structure for their respective communities moving forward.

The Fire Governance Committee, made up of representatives from each city, will meet on June 18th at 9:00 AM at Encinitas City Hall to discuss the next steps.

Share Your Thoughts on Solana Beach Microtransit

The City is exploring new micro-transit options to improve and expand local transportation in Solana Beach. Aligned with the City’s Climate Action Plan and Age-Friendly Action Plan, this effort aims to better serve residents of all ages and mobility needs. We’re asking for your help by taking a brief Micro-transit Survey to share your current experience and suggestions. Your feedback is essential and will guide how we shape future transit options. The survey only takes a few minutes and all responses will remain confidential.

Lower Your TOU Rate This Summer

Looking to lower your electricity bill this summer? If you're on a Time-of-Use (TOU) rate plan, energy costs vary throughout the day, with the most expensive rates during “on-peak” hours from 4:00–9:00 PM. Shifting your usage to “off-peak” or “super off-peak” times and using tools like programmable thermostats or smart outlets can help you save. As we move into summer, make sure to stay updated on current TOU hours. For an even greener impact, consider opting up to the Clean Energy Alliance’s Green Impact plan for 100% renewable energy.
