The kitchen is the heart of the home, especially during the holidays. From testing family recipes to decorating cakes and cookies, everyone enjoys being part of the preparations. With the potential for extra cooks in the kitchen during the Thanksgiving holiday, the potential for distractions also increase. So keeping fire safety top of mind in the kitchen during this joyous but hectic time is important, especially when there’s a lot of activity and people at home. As you start preparing your holiday schedule and organizing that large family feast, remember, by following a few simple safety tips you can enjoy time with your loved ones and keep yourself and your family safer from fire.
Solana Beach City Hall and all non-essential City buildings will be closed on Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Regular hours will resume on Monday, November 28th. Have a wonderful holiday!
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, EDCO's residential collection service will not be performed on Thursday, November 24th. Residents with a trash pickup scheduled for Thursday or after will have a one-day residential delay in service this week.
To celebrate the start of the holiday season, the City's Parks and Recreation Commission invites you to join your friends and neighbors at the annual Holiday Tree Lighting event on Sunday, December 4th, at 4:30 PM. Once the tree's light switch is flipped, all eyes turn to watch for Santa's arrival by fire-truck escort! Children will have the chance to ask Santa for that most important gift and to remind him just how good they've been all year! There will be live music and cookies, cider, and treats.
The City and La Colonia Community Foundation invite you to the La Colonia Holiday Tree Lighting event on Saturday, December 10th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Join your friends and neighbors at historic La Colonia Park to celebrate the holiday season. There will be plenty of sweets, treats, and Mexican hot cocoa to go along with all the fun, including traditional holiday aguinaldos treat bags for the children, and delicious pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread). Santa will make another appearance and children will have the chance to ask him for that most important gift and to remind him just how good they’ve been all year.
Back by popular demand, the City and it's Parks and Recreation Commission are excited to invite you to watch Santa's Sleigh Ride through Solana Beach on Friday December 16th, from 2:30 to 5:30 PM! Santa will make yet another appearance in Solana Beach as he rides along with Fire, Sheriff and Marine Safety personnel. The Sleigh Ride will start and end at the Solana Beach Fire Station, located at 500 Lomas Santa Fe Drive. Public Meetings
