The North County Transit District (NCTD), in collaboration with SANDAG and CALTRANS, is approaching the completion of the Double Tracking Project within Solana Beach. A final phase of this project includes the construction of 6-foot tall safety fencing along NCTD’s right of way on both the east and west sides of the tracks. This work began this week. The fence construction, which is similar to that along the City’s Coastal Rail Trail (CRT), is a requirement of the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) and will provide the required separation between the public and the newly installed railroad tracks to prevent pedestrian crossings and to protect the public’s safety.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the City’s Engineering Department at (858) 720-2470.
