Art Gallery Exhibit - Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Lake Hodges

The City of Solana Beach is excited to announce our participation in the celebration of the “Centennial of Lake Hodges”, whose creation made it possible to irrigate the City’s early farms and neighborhoods. The City, along with the Civic and Historical Society, will host the exhibit "Follow the Water" by local artist Kevin Anderson at the City Hall Gallery, from October 1st through November 15th.

In addition, the community is invited to the City Hall Gallery opening reception of "Follow the Water" on Saturday, October 6th, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.

Refreshments and entertainment will be provided. Admission is free. A short Lake Hodges Centennial Program and recognition of Colonel Ed Fletcher and his descendants will take place at 4:00 PM. City Hall Gallery is located at 635 S. Hwy. 101, Solana Beach.

Council to Confirm Direction on Roundabouts on Lomas Santa Fe Drive

Council to Confirm Direction on Roundabouts on Lomas Santa Fe Drive
At the City Council meeting on September 26, 2018, the City Council will consider adoption of a Resolution that would eliminate three roundabouts from further study/consideration for the Lomas Santa Fe Corridor Improvement Project. Due to the overwhelming response from members of the community who live adjacent to the Lomas Santa Fe Corridor east of Las Banderas Drive, the City Council will consider limiting further study to only one roundabout at the intersection of Lomas Santa Fe and Highland Drive as this location was supported by several eastside residents. This study would include preparation of an accurate video simulation of both AM and PM peak hours of traffic (factoring into the model aggressive driving behaviors) and would analyze pedestrian safety, emergency vehicle response times, emergency evacuation routes and other possible impacts of a potential roundabout at this intersection.

A copy of the City Staff Report and Draft Resolution can be found at this link.

The City Council will meet at its regular time of 6:00 PM on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, and will hear this item immediately following the Consent Agenda.

Construction Traffic Advisory – 330 S Cedros Ave

Community Traffic Advisory
Construction at 330 South Cedros Avenue
As part of the Cedros Gardens Development at 330 South Cedros Avenue, there will be roadway construction along South Cedros Avenue just north of Rosa Street. The work will require one lane of traffic to be closed on South Cedros Avenue which will result in the temporary closure of approximately 10 parking spaces during the work hours noted below. There will always be one lane of traffic open, but a flag-person will be on site to help vehicles navigate through the work zone. Due to the flagging operation, delays should be expected, but all attempts will be made to keep the delays to a minimum.

The construction work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, and is expected to last for at least 3½ weeks. Hours of work will be from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. Pedestrian and traffic control will be set up to minimize the impact. However, if possible, please avoid the area during the work hours.

For questions about the project, please contact TFW Construction at 619-252-5464 or the City of Solana Beach Engineering Department at 858.720.2470.
