South Rios Road Closure

The work began on July 11 and will require up to 3 weeks to complete.

South Rios Road Closure This is a courtesy notice that there is a partial road closure in the 200 to 300 block of South Rios Avenue due to the extension of the public sewer main. The work involves placing approximately 200 feet of sewer pipe and one manhole to serve additional houses along South Rios. The work began today, July 11th, and will require up to 3 weeks to complete. Although South Rios (within the work zone) will be closed to through traffic, emergency vehicles and residents living within the work zone will still be able to get in and out. Additionally, all services (trash, mail, delivery, etc.) will be accommodated by the contractor. Work is expected to take place between 7:00 am and 4:30 pm Mondays through Saturdays. Full access will be restored during evenings and on Sundays. Please take the necessary precautions and find alternate routes if you do not live in the area. Summer "Concerts at the Cove" continues this Thursday night, July 12, 6pm-7:45pm. Quartet Nouveau Quartet Nouveau has earned a reputation throughout San Diego as an exciting, emerging group known for their energizing and deeply emotional performances.  Since forming, Quartet Nouveau has performed at numerous venues in the San Diego area.  As a group, they take great interest in their concert programming and have a wide range of composers in their repertoire.  For the past 3 years, Quartet Nouveau has hosted a composition competition with applicants from across the world.  As well as being avid performers, Quartet Nouveau is committed to music education.  All of the members of the group maintain private studios and the group runs "Quartet Lab," a program that gives student groups the chance to be coached by the members of Quartet Nouveau and perform in a formal recital. This event is free and open to the public.  The public is encouraged to bring low-back beach chairs, ground cover, and picnics . . . and arrive "Car-Free." No alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, pets, or personal BBQ's allowed during concerts. 4th of July Fire Safety The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a professional public display. Fireworks, including safe and sane are dangerous and illegal. In the City of Solana Beach, use or possession of fireworks is a misdemeanor and subject to a fine and/or imprisonment. Sky lanterns also present serious fire and safety hazards. Sky lanterns are airborne paper lanterns with a fuel source that are known to travel significant distances and start fires far from where they were launched. All fireworks including sparklers and poppers are illegal and DANGEROUS. Summer "Concerts at the Cove" continues this Thursday night, July 5, 6pm-7:45pm. Hullabaloo Band Over the course of fourteen years Hullabaloo has won seventeen national awards, received rave reviews from People, Parenting, Parents, Cookie and Parent & Child Magazines and landed on three national "Top 10 Best Children's Music" lists. Hullabaloo plays about 300 shows a year in venues ranging from backyard parties to fancier stages like the Austin City Limits Festival, World Café Live, LEGOLAND, the San Diego Zoo, the Hard Rock Cafe and their own Hullabaloo Family Music Festival. At last count, they'd sold just over 30,000 CDs. But the truth is, none of these facts and figures matter a bit to kid that just wants to sing and dance. What really matters is that Hullabaloo is a foot-stomping, wing-flapping celebration of song that honors and entertains kids and families.
