As We Begin to Enjoy the “Locals” Summer,

Please Help Us Keep Solana Beach Clean

As the warm weather continues, we’re fortunate in Solana Beach to enjoy a more relaxed “locals” summer. Our beaches are a shared community space, and we all share the responsibility of keeping them clean and safe. The City encourages everyone to follow the "pack-in, pack-out" mentality, meaning whatever you bring to the beach should leave with you. Even with the smaller crowds, many people are still enjoying the beach, so be mindful about picking up after yourself and reminding others to leave no trace of their visit. Before you go, double-check your area and make use of the new litter cleanup station at Fletcher Cove Beach at Fletcher Cove to properly dispose of any trash. Small actions like these go a long way in keeping our beaches safe, beautiful, and welcoming for all.

SANDAG Draft 2025 Regional Plan EIR

SANDAG has released the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the proposed 2025 Regional Plan. The EIR reviews how planned transportation improvements may affect regional resources such as air quality, water, and land, and identifies ways to reduce or avoid potential impacts. This process is an important step to ensure that decision-makers, public agencies, and the community have the information needed to make informed choices about the future of our region. Your feedback is a vital part of this process. We encourage you to review the Draft EIR and submit a public comment. Written comments are due by October 13th at 5:00 PM.

Reminder of Southbound I-5 Weekend Closure

As a reminder, as part of the I-5 Asset Management Project, Caltrans will be closing all lanes of southbound I-5 between SR-52 to Mission Bay Drive today, September 5th at 10:00 PM through Monday, September 8th re-opening at 5:00 AM. Crews will be working on important road and culvert improvements to help keep our freeway in good shape. This is the first of six weekend closures planned in the area to maintain and improve infrastructure. Detours will be in place, so please plan extra travel time if you’re heading south as there will be delays. Portable message signs will be placed along the routes advising of the closure and suggesting alternate routes. For real-time updates, visit Caltrans QuickMap.

On Tuesday, September 9th, the I-5 South on-ramp from eastbound Via De La Valle will be closed. City Hall Gallery Opening Reception

Thursday, September 11th, 5:30 PM

The Solana Beach City Hall Gallery presents its newest exhibit, “Abstract Extravaganza,” on view now through the end of October. This dynamic exhibit showcases a diverse collection of abstract paintings and sculptures by local artist Gregg Sindici that explore the boundaries of color, texture, and composition. The paintings range from earthy, natural compositions to vibrant abstracts, as well as grittier works reminiscent of graffiti art. The sculptures pair steel with beach stones, reflecting a minimalist, zen-inspired design. The Solana Beach Public Arts Commission invites the community to the opening reception on Thursday, September 11th, from 5:30-7:00 PM to meet the artist and view this incredible exhibit. If you appreciate abstract art, you’re sure to find something that catches your eye.

Community Energy Workshop Series

The closest in-person session is at the Carlsbad Senior Center on September 17th at 5:30 PM. Those who would like to attend virtually will be able to do so on September 24th. The virtual Spanish session is from 5:00 - 6:00 PM followed by the English session at 6:00 - 7:00 PM. This is the time for your voice to be heard!
