National Hispanic Heritage Month

The City proudly joins in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th to October 15th! During this special time, we honor the many contributions our Hispanic and Latino communities have made – and continue to make – to the history and culture of Solana Beach and the country. La Colonia, also known as Eden Gardens, stands as a testament to our shared history, founded in the 1920s by Mexican farmers and remaining one of Solana Beach's oldest neighborhoods. Today, Latinos and Latinas continue to shape our city and the nation as business owners, activists, artists, public servants, and more. Join us in celebrating their invaluable contributions this Hispanic Heritage Month!

Coastal Rail Service Suspended This Weekend

To perform routine railroad maintenance and major infrastructure improvements along the coastal rail corridor, the North County Transit District (NCTD) will suspend all coastal rail services between San Diego and Oceanside this weekend beginning on Saturday, September 20th and ending on Sunday, September 21st. Customers are urged to plan ahead and make alternative travel arrangements. Regularly scheduled service will resume on Monday, September 22nd

Bike and E-Bike Safety Tips

With electric bicycles (e-bikes) increasing in popularity, it's important to know what bikes are street legal, safety regulations of e-bikes, and how they differ from pedal bikes. Last Saturday, September 9th, the City hosted a City Cycling Workshop to educate residents on the rules of the road, where to ride, general bike safety, emergency maneuvers, legal rights, and responsibilities on the road. If you own an e-bike, please familiarize yourself and your children with the rules of the road and safety regulations, and make sure your e-bike is permitted to be used on City streets – not all e-bikes are street legal. Thank you for keeping Solana Beach safe and accident free!

SoCal Turf Replacement Program

It's time to rethink your landscaping! Transform your property into a beautiful, eco-friendly garden that is kind to the planet and thrives in the California climate. SoCal WaterSmart's Turf Replacement program is currently offering rebates to help homeowners remove their existing turf and replace it with native drought-tolerant landscaping. Eligible residents can utilize this opportunity to create a sustainable and visually appealing outdoor space. Learn more to discover what the project would have to include and how to apply. Swap out your grass for native plants today!
