Join Us This Saturday for the Creek to Bay Cleanup

& Fletcher Cove Cleanup Station Grand Opening

Join us this Saturday, April 26th at Fletcher Cove Beach for a special dual event. The 23rd Annual Creek to Bay Cleanup is being held in conjunction with the official launch of the City’s new Beach Cleanup Station. To kick off the event, the City will host a special ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:00 AM to unveil the new Beach Cleanup Station at Fletcher Cove Beach. Volunteers will be invited to use the baskets during the cleanup and be among the first to use this new community resource designed to make it easy for beachgoers to help keep our shoreline clean and beautiful year-round. Register to join the official Solana Beach Creek to Bay Cleanup site and be part of San Diego County’s largest coastal cleanup effort.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the

New Murals at the Solana Beach Post Office

Come celebrate the completion of nine new murals at the Solana Beach Post Office this Saturday, April 26th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM with the Solana Beach Civic & Historical Society. Commissioned by the Society and created in partnership with Postmaster Richard Zamora, the murals were painted by local artist Kevin Anderson and showcase iconic Solana Beach scenes, from bluff-top views and underwater sea life to Fletcher Cove and La Colonia de Eden Gardens. This beautification project reflects the Society’s mission to preserve local history and enrich the community through public art. Guests can enjoy light refreshments, meet the artist, and take a mural tour. All are welcome, bring a friend and come celebrate with us!

Highlights from the Spring Festival & Egg Hunt

The 2025 Children’s Spring Festival & Egg Hunt was a sunny success! This year’s beautiful weather brought families out in full force to enjoy a day filled with fun and celebration. From face painting to arts and crafts, the park was buzzing with activities for all ages. A major hit was the new children’s train ride, which gave little ones and their families a fun loop around the park. Of course, the highlight was the egg hunt, with over 5,000 eggs collected by our young participants.

Thank you to all the families who joined us to celebrate spring in such a joyful way. And a special thanks to our Parks & Recreation staff, Public Works team, and community volunteers who helped bring the magic to life. We can’t wait to see you again next year!

City of Kindness Reminder:

Please Respect Our Shared Spaces

The City of Solana Beach is committed to fostering a safe, welcoming, and creative environment for all who live, work, and visit here. In light of this commitment, we want to address a recent rise in vandalism that is negatively affecting both public spaces and community-led projects.

Over the past week, an in-progress community art project led by a local Girl Scout troop as part of their Senior Project was vandalized over the weekend. Designed to promote girl empowerment and positivity, the project represented months of dedication and heart from young residents working to inspire and uplift others. The action taken to create damage is extremely disappointing and very disheartening, not only for the girls but for the many community members who have supported and appreciated this project from the beginning of the installation process.

Vandalism of any kind severely diminishes community spirit and mutual respect. We encourage anyone who witnesses vandalism or suspicious activity to report it through the City’s website or by calling the Sheriff’s non-emergency line.

Updated Fire Hazard Severity Zones for California

Cal Fire has released updated Fire Hazard Severity Zone maps for the first time since 2007. These new maps reflect current wildfire conditions and classify areas in Solana Beach as having moderate, high, or very high fire hazard levels. Developed by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the maps use improved data and modeling to better understand where wildfire hazards exist. While they don’t assess risk at the individual property level, they help guide where fire safety regulations should apply. Residents are encouraged to review the maps and submit public comments by April 25th. A full overview of these updates will be presented by Fire Chief Josh Gordon during the May 7th City Council meeting.
