Glenmont Neighborhood Park Workshop | | Please join us TONIGHT, April 20th, from 5:30 - 7:30 PM for the second Glenmont Neighborhood Park Community Workshop in the City Council Chambers. The City has been developing the conceptual engineering and landscape design for a small neighborhood park on approximately half an acre of the Santa Fe Irrigation District's water reservoir site on Glenmont Drive. During this public workshop, the updated design will be presented and additional input from the community will be solicited for this neighborhood park. | | Earth Day is approaching! Happy Earth Day! | | Spring Bulky-Item Cleanup Day | Save the date for the Solana Beach Spring Bulky-Item Cleanup Day! This year’s event will be on Saturday, May 13th, from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the La Colonia Community Center parking lot. The clean-up event will have mulch available for self-load/self-haul and certified shredding trucks that will shred all items on site. You can also drop off unwanted electronic and universal waste (batteries, pesticides, mercury-containing equipment, lamps, and aerosol cans). In addition to the on-site services, Solana Beach residents can register for a free curbside pickup of up to three bulky-items. Registration for the curbside cleanup begins the week of May 1st by calling (858) 350-8544. | Join the SeaWeeders Garden Club and the Solana Beach Civic & Historical Society this Friday, April 21st, at 5:00 PM for a fun springtime workshop about beekeeping! Katie Pelisek, past president of the SeaWeeders Garden Club, will discuss all the ins-and-outs of beekeeping. Pelisek has been keeping bees on her property for over 10 years! She will bring props, share photos and discuss her sweet and sometimes painful learning curve to becoming an apiarist. This workshop is free to the public and will be held at the La Colonia Community Center. No live bees will be intentionally invited to the event! | Friends of the Solana Beach Library 2023 Scholarship Program | | Need financial assistance to help with school expenses? The Friends of the Solana Beach Library are happy to announce that they will be awarding three or more scholarships again this year. These scholarships are only available to residents of Solana Beach and must be used for education beyond the high-school level anywhere in the United States, at a community college, a college or university, or a career, technical or vocational program.
