The 37th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day encourages you to protect your happy place as part of a global environmental effort! Join I Love A Clean San Diego for the largest single-day environmental cleanup in San Diego County on Saturday, September 18, 2021 anytime throughout the day! This year, volunteers can choose their own cleanup location – whether that’s close to home, at your favorite spot in San Diego County or help at a litter hot spot found on our map by clicking here. Volunteers of all ages can grab cleanup supplies - buckets, grabbers and gloves to join in!
Become a community scientist and help collect litter data at your cleanup!
The San Diego region’s volunteers come out in such numbers that we annually account for the largest litter totals in the state, and met seven percent of the international litter totals in 2020! This is a good thing – because you show up to make a difference!
A key part of this success is collecting data on the types of litter that volunteers clean up! This detailed data give us a snapshot of what is affecting the health of our environment to help shape change. Volunteers who register will receive a report link and QR code to a mobile-friendly form where you can input your detailed results. Once submitted, your cleanup accomplishments are immediately shared on our live Volunteer Impact Map on CleanupDay.org. Physical data cards can be available for those who do not have computer or mobile access for reporting.
Registration opened Wednesday, September 1st at CleanupDay.org. Registered volunteers will receive important safety information, event resources and details on reporting totals back to have a successful cleanup.
Removing litter makes a huge impact on the health of our waterways and oceans no matter if you are inland or coastal! For more information and registration details, head to CleanupDay.org!
