Beach Blanket Movie Night is this Saturday!

Join us this Saturday from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM for the long-awaited Beach Blanket Movie Night (BBMN). Bring your favorite blanket, pack a picnic, and head to Fletcher Cove Park for this fun and unique outdoor movie experience! The night kicks off with live music by Jimmy's Buffet, followed by the highly requested feature presentation of 'Lilo and Stitch.' Enjoy a variety of delicious treats including pizza, popcorn, cookies, and brownies (cash only). And be sure not to miss the chance to win exciting prizes, including big-ticket items! We're thrilled to share a movie night under the stars with you!

Concerts at the Cove Series Finale

Last concert of the summer! Don't miss out on the last performance of the Concerts at the Cove series. Join us for an evening of music as we come together to wrap up the season and celebrate summer's end. Arrive car-free and bring your low-back beach chairs, blankets, and picnics to enjoy. Final Performer: The Destroyers

Join us TONIGHT for the grand finale of the 2023 Concert at the Cove series featuring the Navy Band "The Destroyers." While sailors in their pressed, dress-white uniforms might not be the first to come to mind when you think of rock music, The Destroyers will shatter those expectations. As Navy Band Southwest’s premier Popular Music Group, their high-energy and crowd-pleasing sets will have everyone dancing and swaying along, making it a memorable way to finish off our summer concert series with this fun musical experience!

Santa Fe Hills Gas Line Upgrade Starts Today!

Starting today, August 10th, SDG&E gas crews and their contractors are set to install advanced gas lines in the Santa Fe Hills Community. This initiative, aimed at enhancing natural gas safety and reliability, may involve temporary outages. SDG&E representatives will notify you in advance and a service technician will be on hand to ensure smooth appliance re-ignition. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we work together to upgrade the gas system in your neighborhood. Please stay tuned for any construction updates!

San Elijo Activity Hub Park & Ride Grand Opening!

Join SANDAG, Caltrans, Nature Collective, and regional leaders for a ribbon cutting celebration to commemorate the grand opening of the new San Elijo Activity Hub Park & Ride on Saturday, August 12th, at 9:00 AM. This community event will include free snow cones, activities and games, a guided tour around the lagoon, new biking and walking paths to explore, and information booths to learn more about the project. The new facility, located directly behind the Chevron gas station, will provide a convenient, centralized location for residents and visitors to utilize the new carpool lanes on I-5, visit the Nature Center, hike the trails in the San Elijo Lagoon, visit the beach, and more. TIP: This is the best place to park to visit Annie’s Canyon! Spread the word!

Solana Beach & Del Mar Junior Lifeguards

Unite for a Friendly Competition Day

On Wednesday, July 26th, the Solana Beach Junior Lifeguards gathered at Del Mar North Beach, also known as Dog Beach, for a friendly competition with the Del Mar Junior Lifeguards. The event featured exciting team and individual events, including a run-swim-run, beach flags, and a rescue relay. Not only did the participants showcase the skills they've acquired through their respective programs, but the competition also aimed to instill values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, and camaraderie. It was a day filled with friendly competition and fun, fostering a sense of community among our young lifeguards.

Concerts at the Cove Continues!

Only two more concerts left in the series! The Concerts at the Cove series continues today and concludes next Thursday at 6:00 PM. Join us as we come together to embrace the summer vibes and  a memorable evening of music. The public is encouraged to arrive car-free, bring low-back beach chairs, ground covers or blankets and picnics. If you are planning to bring dinner, please remember to shop local!

Tonight's Performer: Brawley

Get ready to kick up your heels at TONIGHT'S Concert at the Cove series as Brawley takes the stage! This California country band, boasting a rich musical history with ties to renowned musical acts, promises an unforgettable night. Don't miss out on this thoroughly modern yet nostalgically honky-tonk experience that'll leave you smiling and tapping your toes with joy.

Shakespeare's "As You Like It" Courtyard Show

Experience Shakespeare's enchanting comedy "As You Like It" for FREE at the La Colonia Park Courtyard on August 3rd, 4th, and 5th at 5:30 PM. Beach Blanket Movie Night

Join us for the annual Beach Blanket Movie Night (BBMN) being held on Saturday, August 12th, from 6-10 PM. Grab a blanket, pack a picnic, and head on down to Fletcher Cove Park for a fun-filled evening and a movie under the stars! The evening begins with live music by Jimmy’s Buffet, followed by the feature presentation "Lilo and Stitch". Plenty of refreshments will be available, including pizza, popcorn, cookies, and brownies. As always, there will be a large prize give-away with big-ticket items and much more!

Coffee with the Community

You're invited to another "Coffee with the Community" hosted by the Sheriff's Department on Thursday, August 10th, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. This event offers a unique opportunity to engage with our station's command staff, deputies, Crime Prevention Specialists, and Senior Volunteers in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Join us for coffee and meaningful conversation at the Starbucks located within the Solana Beach Towne Center (West of the I-5). Let's come together, strengthen our community, foster open communication, and build lasting connections.

Public Comment for Regional Transportation Plan

SANDAG is seeking public input on a proposed amendment to the 2021 Regional Plan, which excludes the regional road user charge (RUC). Public comments are open until August 8th, and the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) is available for comments until August 28th. Additionally, the 2025 Regional Plan is under development, and public feedback is encouraged via an interactive map until August 31th. Join the conversation and have a say in the future of our region's transportation network and environmental plans.

A reminder that the August 9th Council meeting is cancelled for the summer break and the next regularly scheduled council meeting is August 23rd. Always check the City’s website for any Special meetings that might be scheduled.
