Meet Our New City Engineer Dan Goldberg!

The City of Solana Beach is pleased to announce that our very own Dan Goldberg has been promoted to City Engineer! After a thorough recruitment process, City Manager Alyssa Muto selected Dan for this important citywide role.

Dan has served the City of Solana Beach for the past 23 years and been the Acting City Engineer since the retirement of Mo Sammak in December. Prior to joining the City, Dan worked as a Civil Engineer for the City of Vista and Caltrans. Throughout his time with the City, Dan has played a key role in many major community improvements, including the construction of Fletcher Cove Park and Community Center, the Coastal Rail Trail, Highway 101 westside sidewalk improvements, and enhancements at La Colonia Park, such as the Tot Lot, Veterans Courtyard, Skatepark, and basketball court. He has also overseen the City’s street pavement management program, sewer and storm drain maintenance and rehabilitation programs, and much more. In his new role as City Engineer/Deputy Director of Engineering, Dan will continue to play a crucial role in the Engineering Department’s day-to-day operations and overall success.

Additionally, the Engineering team and Public Works team, lead by Deputy Director Luis Carillo, will be lead by Joe Lim in an Interim role. This dual role for Joe over Planning and Engineering will allow the City to look more closely at opportunities for improved coordination between Planning and Engineering on permitting, as well as "plan-to-project" implementation on our public works operations and facilities like our roads and parks. Thank you to Joe for stepping into this role, and congratulations to Dan on this well-earned promotion!

Due to limited supply, residents are asked to take no more than 5 sandbags per household. Plan ahead and take precautions, as wet and windy conditions may create hazardous conditions.
