The decomposed granite (DG) edging that runs alongside the trail has experienced minor erosion. To keep the trail in top shape, the City’s landscape maintenance team has been hard at work refilling and leveling the DG to realign it with the concrete path. The work is now complete, we hope you go enjoy the trail! | | | Santa Helena Asphalt Repairs | Last week, Santa Helena underwent much-needed asphalt repairs, improving the roadway between Sun Valley Road and the lagoon until it gets a more complete repair as part of our annual paving efforts. Crews completed localized street repairs, removing and replacing the most damaged sections of asphalt. These small repairs will extend the life of the road and enhance overall driving conditions. Keep an eye out for the annual pavement program update at council this Spring for more street improvements in our community. | | | Greener Medians on Highland Dr. | Big changes are coming to the medians along Highland Drive in front of the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club! New drought-tolerant landscaping will feature beautiful, water-wise plants, granite boulders, and a sleek concrete edge treatment to enhance the area's look while conserving water. In addition, City Council has approved a new temporary art site within the median, and by the end of the month, a new sculpture will be installed as part of the 2025-2026 Temporary Public Arts Exhibit. These exciting upgrades build on the median construction completed in 2023 and support the City’s commitment to sustainability and beautification. | | Recycle Your Old batteries at City Hall | | | Not sure what to do with old batteries? Drop them off at the battery recycling bin inside Solana Beach City Hall for safe and easy disposal. Whatever you do, don’t toss them in the trash! Used batteries are hazardous waste, meaning they should NEVER go in your curbside trash, recycling, or organics carts. Improper disposal can cause leaks, contamination, or even dangerous fires in collection trucks and disposal facilities. The recycle bin accepts both regular (acid) batteries and lithium-ion batteries. Can’t make it during business hours (7:30 AM – 5:30 PM)? Call (858) 481-7233 to schedule a pickup. | | President's Day - City Hall Holiday Closure | | | In observance of President's Day, City Hall and all non-essential City buildings will be closed on Monday, February 17th.
