| C i t y o f S o l a n a B e a c h | | The City of Solana Beach recognizes the value of an informed citizenry. In an effort to better inform the public about current activities and issues, the City has established this weekly City Update. The Weekly Update will be sent out every Wednesday and will serve as a "newsletter" that aims to keep the community up to date on City news, programs, events, services and announcements.
The following is provided as an update regarding City news, programs, and services. | | | It has officially been one month since the City launched our new and greatly improved website! In addition to a sleek design, the website includes significant technological and usability upgrades that make it very user-friendly. Navigating the City’s website is now much easier with the improved search functions and cleaner internal pages.
We do ask for your patience during the first few months of the transition, as we do expect some minor glitches that are common with a website revamp. Staff will continue to make upgrades after launch so please let us know if you notice anything that needs attention. We hope you like the new website as much as we do! | | Public Art Piece "Pinion" Restoration | | After nine years, the adored public art piece Pinion has been taken down. But nothing to worry about, the piece will safely return to its original location at the corner of N. Cedros Avenue and E. Cliff Street, after it has been cleaned and restored!
Since its arrival in 2013, the community's response to the Pinion has been overwhelmingly positive which led City Council to approve the purchase of the piece at the October 13, 2021 meeting. City Council has also directed Staff to design a new permanent base for the Pinion and aesthetic improvements to the area surrounding the art pad.
The sculptor, Jon Koehler, has generously offered to refurbish the 20-foot kinetic stainless steel sculpture back to its original condition and further enhance the piece with a more permanent protection. | | | Clean Energy Alliance Seeking Applicants for Community Advisory Committee | | | Clean Energy Alliance (CEA) has formed a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) to advise CEA’s Board of Directors, as directed. The CAC provides feedback on CEA programs and implementation, acts as a liaison between the Board and the community and serves as a forum for community input. The CAC membership consists of two appointees from each CEA member agency and one Board Alternate. In the inaugural year, one appointee seat from each member agency will serve a two-year term. Applications for the CAC are being accepted through July 31, 2022 for the City of Solana Beach (one vacancy for term through 2023). | | North County Transit District (NCTD) is working with Circulate San Diego to conduct a survey to evaluate existing NCTD services (BREEZE, COASTER, FLEX/LIFT, and SPRINTER) to improve it for the future.
The survey is intended for anyone who lives, works, or otherwise visits the North County region and has been designed for transit users. A shorter version is available for those who currently do not use transit but could potentially be encouraged to try it. | | | Traffic Advisory Del Mar Races Opening Day Friday, July 22, 2022 | | There's race day... and then there's Opening Day.
