KAABOO provides the region with a unique entertainment experience that combines world-class music, local cuisine, craft libations, contemporary art, and more, all into one upscale environment. The days and hours for this year's events are:

  • Friday: 2:00pm – 12:30am
  • Saturday: 1:00pm – 12:30am
  • Sunday: 1:00pm – 9:00pm

For the most part, the past four KAABOO events have been successful. However, the City has received some complaints raised by members of the community. These concerns have primarily been centered around noise, parking, traffic, litter, and safety. KAABOO organizers continue to work diligently with Solana Beach, Del Mar, and the Sheriff Department to address these concerns and continue to make changes to help alleviate these concerns and provide a positive event for the community to enjoy. Some of the issues and steps the organizers continue to improve on are:

Noise: KAABOO organizers continue to work to reduce the impacts of noise on adjacent communities. All outdoor stages are evaluated to reduce noise levels. In 2018, KAABOO estimated, verified, monitored, and complied with maximum permissible sounds levels, designed to maintain community noise levels below pre-defined noise thresholds. This is happening again this year. As in previous years, KAABOO has established a hotline for noise complaints. The number is (858) 794-1104.

Traffic: KAABOO, in conjunction with the Sheriff's Department, has agreed to continue traffic control at both Solana Circle/Via de la Valle as well as at the Solana Gate entrance to the Fairgrounds. KAABOO has also made improvements to on-site parking and shuttle flow through the main parking lot off of Jimmy Durante road to increase efficiency and reduce traffic. Again this year, the City will be closing off access to Solana Circle at Nardo Avenue and the Sheriff will close access to Solana Circle at Via de la Valle to prevent cut-through traffic and noise/trash impacts to that neighborhood. Residents and their guests will have full access to get in and out of Solana Circle, but it will be closed off to all other traffic.

Safety: KAABOO will continue to have Sheriff Deputies patrol outside of the Fairgrounds with an emphasis on the neighborhoods adjacent to the property. The City continues to receive complaints of people parking in these neighborhoods, loitering, making noise and littering before and after going to the event. People are encouraged to call the Sheriff Department's non-emergency number at (858) 565-5200 if they witness illegal activity. In case of an emergency, dial 911.

Trash: KAABOO has agreed to provide early morning trash pickup in the adjacent neighborhoods on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday mornings.

Bike/Pedestrian Access at Solana Gate: Again this year, there will be no bike or pedestrian access through Solana Gate. All bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be directed to the main gate off of Jimmy Durante where there will be a larger area for bike parking close to the main entrance (adjacent to Surfside Race Place).

Rideshare: As in years past, KAABOO is working to protect your neighborhoods from excessive traffic during the peak hours of KAABOO Del Mar. As part of that effort, rideshare usage will be blacked out during peak egress hours, 8 pm to 1 am, each day of the event. That means no attendees parking on your streets and then calling a car down to the fairgrounds - it simply won't be possible. It does mean, though, that there will be specific steps you must take if you would like to use a rideshare app yourself during these hours on September 13, 14, or 15.

If you live in Solana Circle or south of the fairgrounds in Del Mar, you will be prompted in the app to go to a designated pickup area. However, you can add notes after you request your car if you need the driver to come directly to your home. This means better traffic flow, fewer issues with illegal parking, and an enjoyable weekend for visitors with minimal disruption to your neighborhoods. Please see the attached images, which show the rideshare blackout area.

If you have a community concern during KAABOO, please call (858) 794-1104 to speak with a KAABOO representative or to leave a message. If a message is left, KAABOO staff will return all messages as soon as possible.
