The Cities of Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and Rancho Santa Fe Fire Departments are holding an Active Shooter Training Drill for Fire, EMS, and our Law Enforcement Officers.
The North County Fire Departments, in coordination with the Del Mar Fairgrounds and other first responders will be hosting an “Active Shooter Drill” on May 6 – 10 and 13, 2019, between the hours of 8 am – 4:30 pm. This drill was created to depict as “realistic” a scenario as possible so there will be simulated gun-fire, actors with makeup, and at least one suspect per scenario.
There will be up to two training scenarios in the AM hours (9 am to 1:00 pm) and two scenarios during the afternoon hours (1:30 to 4:30 pm) each day. The drill location will be the west end of the grandstands (first-floor seating), west end tarmac, the training track (drill staging for first responder vehicles), and the Hacienda Room (actor makeup room).
On May 9th a helicopter will land on the main race track during the morning and afternoon scenarios.
Please do not cross or go under or around caution tape or go past any area you see signage stating, “Keep Out – Training Drill.”
If you have any questions, please call Del Mar Fairgrounds Security Manager Mark Elvin at (858) 755-1161 Ext: 2833 or 4282.
