Solana Energy Alliance Customers See Billing Credits

Solana Energy Alliance Customers
See Billing Credits
In its ongoing commitment to maintaining a 3% savings on electric generation charges, on February 13, 2019, the Solana Beach City Council adopted updated Solana Energy Alliance (SEA) rates in response to SDG&E rate changes that went into effect on January 1, 2019. To maintain the 3% savings on electric generation, the City Council also approved reimbursement for SEA customers retroactive to January 1, 2019. Customers will begin seeing a credit on the SEA section of their SDG&E bill related to the retroactive effective date of the rate change.

If you have any questions about your SEA charges, call customer service at 858-720-4422.

Community Advisory - Senior Care Facility Community Meetings

Community Advisory - Senior Care Facility Community Meetings April 2nd & 16th
The City of Solana Beach would like to inform the community that the developer and operator of a proposed 99-bed Senior Care Facility, located at 959 Genevieve Street, will hold community meetings to provide more information to the public about the proposed facility, which will provide assisted living and memory care. These community meetings will take place at the following times and locations:

  • Tuesday, April 2nd at 6:00 PM at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 424 Via de la Valle, in Solana Beach, and
  • Tuesday, April 16th at 6:00 PM at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 424 Via de la Valle, in Solana Beach

The approval process for the Senior Care Facility requires a special election before the entire Solana Beach electorate, paid for by the developer, to consider a Specific Plan for the project. As mandated by Proposition T, a public vote is required due to the project’s proposed zoning change. If the electorate votes in favor of the Specific Plan, the project will still require approval by the Solana Beach City Council and the California Coastal Commission. If approved, construction of the project would take approximately 12 to 15 months to complete.

In mid-April, registered voters in Solana Beach will receive a ballot in the mail containing a single measure for their consideration — Measure B. Voters will vote on whether a Specific Plan should be created for the senior care facility. Ballots are to be mailed back by May 7.

A draft Environmental Impact Report has been prepared for the project that will be circulated for public review next month.

For more information on the Solana Beach Senior Care Facility and to be kept up to date on future events concerning the project, sign up for updates at www.solanabeachseniorcare.com or SolanaBeachSeniorCare on Facebook.

First Annual Student Art Exhibit - Closing Reception

City Hall Gallery Presents:
The First Annual Student Art Show
Featuring Sunset High School
The City of Solana Beach proudly invites you to the closing reception of the City Hall Gallery’s First Annual Student Art Exhibit, featuring Sunset High School.

Closing Reception
Sunday, March 31, 2019
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Sunset High School is one of five high schools in the San Dieguito High School District that offers an alternative to comprehensive high schools. As a small student-centered school that focuses on individualized student attention, Sunset is dedicated to inspiring students to strive, learn and succeed.

The current exhibit features nine Sunset art students that are passionate about art making, and the space and freedom that art allows for personal expression, release and even healing. By participating in this exhibit, these student artists have challenged their fears by putting their art on display and grown as individuals. The majority of these students have never publicly displayed their art.

Please join us in celebrating these students achievements and the completion of the City’s First Annual Student Art Exhibit.

To create one's own world in any of the arts takes courage.
