The City of Solana Beach would like to inform the community that the developer and operator of a proposed 99-bed Senior Care Facility, located at 959 Genevieve Street, will hold community meetings to provide more information to the public about the proposed facility, which will provide assisted living and memory care. These community meetings will take place at the following times and locations:
- Tuesday, April 2nd at 6:00 PM at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 424 Via de la Valle, in Solana Beach, and
- Tuesday, April 16th at 6:00 PM at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 424 Via de la Valle, in Solana Beach
The approval process for the Senior Care Facility requires a special election before the entire Solana Beach electorate, paid for by the developer, to consider a Specific Plan for the project. As mandated by Proposition T, a public vote is required due to the project’s proposed zoning change. If the electorate votes in favor of the Specific Plan, the project will still require approval by the Solana Beach City Council and the California Coastal Commission. If approved, construction of the project would take approximately 12 to 15 months to complete.
In mid-April, registered voters in Solana Beach will receive a ballot in the mail containing a single measure for their consideration — Measure B. Voters will vote on whether a Specific Plan should be created for the senior care facility. Ballots are to be mailed back by May 7.
A draft Environmental Impact Report has been prepared for the project that will be circulated for public review next month.
