Climate Action Plan Update Community Survey | | | The City is updating its Climate Action Plan (CAP) and needs your help to guide its development to ensure the City achieves its lofty goals in alignment with new state greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets. The long-term success of the CAP and reaching the state’s targets will require collaboration and support from the Solana Beach community, relying on actions that both the City and community members can take to reduce our collective climate impact. We invite and encourage you to participate in the City's CAP Update community survey, seeking your input on how the Solana Beach community can contribute to the meaningful reduction of global GHG to meet California’s aggressive emissions reduction targets. | | Beach Sand Re-Nourishment Project To Begin! | | The City is excited to announce that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Manson Construction are set to initiate the re-nourishment of City beaches this Monday, December 4th, marking the beginning of this long-awaited project which will create a new, 150-foot wide sandy beach, providing shoreline protection, recreational and environmental benefits. Initial sand placement is expected to begin in January, but may begin sooner depending on the schedule of the San Clemente + USACE beach sand project. Before the sand can be placed on the beach, a pipeline, through which sand will be pumped to the beach, must be installed. This will involve a few boats near-shore, and some vehicles on the beach. Public safety is paramount, so there will be temporary closures of small portions of the beach and water near the dredge pipeline during sand placement operations. Signs will be posted to inform the public of this operation and to ensure community cooperation during the beach restoration. | | | Night Work Scheduled for Water Supply Project | | | Starting tonight, November 30th, at 9:00 PM the Santa Fe Irrigation District (SFID) will begin night work on Lomas Santa Fe near the El Viento and South Nardo Avenue intersection. This work will occur from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM in order to avoid significant traffic impacts and is set to conclude on December 1st. This project will connect critical water supply facilities within the SFID system and is part of the pipeline project being done near the Larrick Reservoir on Glenmont Avenue. Expect to see large equipment, lighting and hear increased noise coming from the equipment, including drilling and back-up beepers. The contractor will make every effort to minimize impacts to surrounding residents. Residents who will have water service interrupted will be contacted individually by SFID staff. We appreciate the community’s support and cooperation while work is being conducted on this critical infrastructure project. | | Santa Rides COASTER Holiday Express Train! | | Join the festive cheer aboard the COASTER Holiday Express as Santa, his Elves, and holiday companions embark on a magical journey from the Oceanside Transit Center to Solana Beach and back.
