Important Reminders for Fourth of July

Let's make this Fourth of July memorable for all the right reasons by prioritizing safety, respecting regulations, and being mindful of our surroundings and our neighbors. Together, we can make this Fourth of July enjoyable and safe for all. Enjoy the celebrations responsibly and have a fantastic holiday!

Community Safety

We want to remind everyone that all fireworks, including sparklers and poppers, are banned from use in Solana Beach, Encinitas, and Del Mar. Fireworks can be unpredictable and pose serious risks, accounting for 44% of burn injuries in the month of July. They can also ignite structures and spark brushfires, jeopardizing lives and properties. To enjoy the dazzling displays safely, we encourage you to attend public fireworks shows at Legoland or the San Diego County Fair. These professional displays are conducted under controlled conditions, ensuring a spectacular and secure experience for everyone.

Beach Safety

Please keep in mind these vital safety tips from the Solana Beach Marine Safety Department to ensure a secure and memorable Fourth of July holiday beach experience. Lifeguards will be on duty at Fletcher Cove from 8 AM to 8 PM. Remember to swim within the designated areas and when on the beach, stay clear of bluffs, overhangs, and caves at all times. Follow beach and park rules, which include no fireworks, alcohol, glass, smoking, drones, or beach camping. Leashed dogs are only allowed at Del Mar Shores and Tide Park beaches. Enjoy a safe and memorable Fourth of July in Solana Beach!

Pet Safety

Protect your pets this Fourth of July! Each year, the July Fourth holiday sees a surge in stray animals entering shelters, often due to pets being frightened by fireworks. Take steps to prevent them from getting lost. License your dog, microchip them, use collars with contact info, consult a vet for stress-reducing meds, arrange for a pet sitter, create a safe home sanctuary, and keep dogs leashed.

To incentivize responsible pet ownership, the San Diego Humane Society is waiving dog license fees and offering free microchipping until July 2nd. Don't let your pet become a statistic, act now!

Fletcher Cove Playground Grand Re-Opening

Fletcher Cove Playground Grand Re-Opening

Today, June 28th at 4:00 PM

The City is excited to invite you to the grand unveiling of the highly anticipated new and improved Fletcher Cove Park Playground! Join us today at 4:00 PM for fun, music, refreshments, and more as we celebrate the completion of the new Playground.

We know the community has been eagerly awaiting the chance to explore and try out the new equipment and embrace those summer vibes. Bring your friends, neighbors, and, of course, your children as we celebrate this special occasion with a festive ribbon-cutting ceremony. Enjoy live music and dance with the amazingly fun Hullabaloo Band, sit down for free face painting, and taste some delicious treats!

This is a special time for the community to come together, celebrate the completion of the playground, and kick off the summer season in style!

Exciting New Features!

Are you ready to play? The new playground includes swings, an ADA accessible net structure, a slide, monkey bars, and a “boogie board” to practice your skills before hitting the surf. There is also an area specially designed for our younger visitors that focuses on aspects of early childhood development by building both fine and gross motor skills, encouraging imaginative social play, expanding language, and cognitive skills.

This playground is making a splash in the history of Solana Beach! VDLA’s licensed drone pilots captured a photo from the same vantage point as one taken by Ed Fletcher 100 years ago. Take a look into the past as you view the side by side comparison to see the extent that Solana Beach has changed between 1923 and 2023!

Make sure you check out the stunning whale design on the rubber surface as you join the fun!

Thank you to the VDLA Landscape Architects, the R.E. Schultz Construction team, Coast Recreation, UC San Diego Library, and the local community for your involvement and dedication! s.
