Solana Beach Memorial Day Ceremony!

Solana Beach Commemorates Memorial Day on
May 30th with Public Ceremony
Free Community Event with Collin Farrar as featured speaker and entertainment by the Santa Fe Christian School Band
The City of Solana Beach and Solana Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5431 will co-host a Memorial Day ceremony from 11am to noon on Monday, May 30, 2022 at the La Colonia Park Veterans Honor Courtyard, 715 Valley Avenue.

Camp Pendleton Young Marines will be the honor guard. Mira Mesa High School student Collin Farrar will be the guest speaker, as well as Solana Beach Mayor Lesa Heebner and Julian Gonzales, Post Commander for VFW Post 5431. The Santa Fe Christian School Band will perform patriotic songs and a special “Feathers from Heaven” dove release will be conducted by Joe and Leslie Irwin. The Veteran’s Memorial wall, which honors the service of all Solana Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be available for viewing. Docents from the Civic and Historical Society will be on hand to conduct tours of the Historical Museum.

Light refreshments will be served. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

The 41st Anniversary Celebration of Fiesta del Sol is happening this weekend, May 21st and 22nd. The Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce has hosted this free two-day Music & Crafts Event for 41 years as a kick-off to summer in Solana Beach and to give back to our fantastic community. 

Once again, the BellyUp is providing an exceptional lineup of musicians to perform over the two-day event, which also includes local community talent. Also, there will be a new and improved Children’s Area set up at Fletcher Cove Park for all families to enjoy. 

Parking is free, and options for parking have been expanded, making it easier to park and catch one of the frequently scheduled shuttles. Don’t forget that bus, Amtrak, and Coaster transportation drops off right across the street from the Fiesta del Sol main entrance. 

Fiesta del Sol truly has something for everyone: food trucks, arts & crafts, sponsor area, Solana Beach firefighters' pancake breakfast on Sunday, wine and beer area, hundreds of vendors, and much more! Join the fun and entertainment that is Fiesta del Sol. Best of all, it’s free!

PUBLIC COMMENTS
  • Written correspondence: (supplemental items) regarding an agenda item at an open session meeting should be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office at clerkoffice@cosb.org with a) Subject line to include the meeting date b) Include the Agenda Item # as listed on the Agenda.
  • Correspondence received after the official posting of the agenda, but two hours prior to the meeting start time, on the meeting day, will be distributed to Council and made available online along with the agenda posting. All submittals received before the start of the meeting will be made part of the record. Written submittals will be added to the record and not read out loud.
And/Or
  • Verbal Comment Participation: Please submit a speaker slip to the City Clerk prior to the meeting, or the announcement of the Section/Item, to provide public comment. Allotted times for speaking are outlined on the speaker’s slip for each agenda section: Oral Communications, Consent, Public Hearings and Staff Reports. Public speakers have 3 minutes each to speak on each topic. Time may be donated by another individual who is present at the meeting to allow an individual up to 6 minutes to speak. Group: Time may be donated by two individuals who are present at the meeting allowing an individual up to 10 minutes to speak. Group Hearings: For public hearings only, time may be donated by two individuals who are present at the meeting allowing an individual up to 15 minutes to speak.

Community Grant Program FY 2022-23
The City of Solana Beach is soliciting grant applications
until 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2022.
The City of Solana Beach is excited to announce the opening of its 2022-23 Community Grant Program. The City is accepting grant applications until 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2022. There is a total of $25,000 available for community organizations and grants will be awarded with a maximum award of $5,000 each.

Request for grants are limited to non-governmental, nonprofit organizations serving the Solana Beach community. Excluded entities include the following: County of San Diego, Municipal Organizations, Special or Water Districts, school districts or schools (but not their supporting organizations), and private individuals.
