ARTIST STATEMENT: As a self-taught artist, I’ve been practicing art for over 40 years as a way to bring balance into my life. My work has evolved into creation of contemporary mosaics with painterly feel.

I create movement by hand cutting all of my materials using stained glass to create natural and organic forms. Painting is a new form of expression for me. Started from the necessity of reconnecting with my surroundings and passion after overcoming sudden disasters. Finding beauty in darkness drives the emotion and tension. Understanding fear and overcoming hardship are motivators as well as inspiration for constantly evolving my work into higher levels. I work spontaneously, letting the moment and feeling guide me.

My inspiration comes from nature and its impact on our psyches. Getting outside is good for the soul. Through my art, I try to bring the outside in. Living with beautiful objects that pay tribute to the natural world reminds us to slow down and helps us reconnect with nature.

I hope to create work that opens dialog between the viewer and the art. Each image tells a story that evokes emotion mixed with tension and conflict yet open enough for personal interpretation.
