Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week
DRIVE-THRU Event
Hosted by the City of Solana Beach Fire Department
Saturday, October 3
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Del Mar Fairgrounds
2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd
Del Mar
*Face covering required

As Fire Prevention Week approaches, the Solana Beach Fire Department reminds residents to “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!” Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ever popular annual Fire Prevention Open House is switching to a DRIVE-THRU Event at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in support of this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign.

According to the National Fire Prevention Agency (NFPA), cooking is the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries. Almost half (44%) of reported home fires start in the kitchen. Two-thirds (66%) of home cooking fires start with the ignition of food or other cooking materials.
