City Expands Temporary Use Permit (TUP) Process to Include Additional Businesses

City Expands Temporary Use Permit (TUP) Process to Include Additional Businesses
Expanded TUP Process Now Allowing Hair & Nail Salons and Gym & Fitness Centers to Conduct Business Outdoors
Consistent with current COVID-19 Public Health Orders, the City has expanded its Temporary Use Permit (TUP) process to allow Hair Salons, Nail Salons and Gyms & Fitness Centers to conduct all or a portion of their business outdoors. The City Council had previously authorized the TUP process to allow restaurants within the City to operate outdoors in compliance with the previous County Public Health Order.

Based upon the recommendation of Mayor Jewel Edson and Council Member David Zito in their respective roles as Members of the City’s Business Liaison Committee, the City Manager, acting as the Director of Emergency Services, issued an Emergency Order to expand the TUP process to include these additional businesses consistent with the revised San Diego County Public Health Order and with the provisions outlined in the Emergency Order effective immediately.

Businesses interested in applying for a TUP to conduct business outdoors should complete the TUP Application and must comply with the requirements of the Emergency Order.

If you have any questions, please contact Community Development Director, Joe Lim, at 858-720-2434.
