La Colonia Skate Park Grand Opening
City Opens New Facility with Skateboarding Event
Saturday, April 27, 2019
11:00-1:00

La Colonia Park
(715 Valley Ave)
The City is excited to invite the community to an Opening Ceremony to celebrate the completion of the new Skate Park and Basketball Court at La Colonia Park.

Activities will include: skateboarding with local pros and team riders, food & refreshments, giveaways, Learn-To-Skate Zone with skateboards and safety equipment provided, live band music, and an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with Councilmembers and Mayor David Zito.

Event sponsors: Tony Hawk Foundation, Mira Costa College Foundation, Solana Beach Civic & Historical Society, Van Dyke Landscape Architects, Surf Ride, Boys & Girls Club of San Dieguito, Poseidon Foundation, Rockademy.

The Solana Beach Civic & Historical Society will also announce the winning entries for two contests (Deck Design and Video Documentary/Essay) that was open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

Climate Action Commission Special Meeting

Solana Beach City Hall
The Solana Beach Climate Action Commission invites you to attend a special meeting on April 17th at 6:00 PM to learn about the increased risk of wildfire and challenges to coastal habitats from a changing climate. Speakers will discuss approaches to some of these challenges that are used in surrounding communities, such as mapping locations of fire risk, monitoring and managing the health of trees and vegetation, encouraging fire-resistant landscaping, and the public benefits of using native and drought tolerant landscaping.
